Someone please give me some insight as to what is causing the mother of all server problems for me... I connect just fine. I get into the map, spawn... zoom my rifle and BOOM! I am looking at my desktop with Microsoft wanting to get involved in error reports and such. I go back in... I spawn, zoom, everything is fine... then BOOM! I get shot (that's normal) but what is not normal is that I never get to see who killed me because there I am again back at my desktop. The problem started happening this morning after I downloaded the new maps. I don't believe it has anything to with it but coincidence, though. I played several minutes this evening successfully zooming and dying, and then BOOM out of nowhere.. same thing. The game is unplayable. I haven't tried different servers yet, should I? Anybody know what my problem might be? Any hope of not reinstalling?

delete everything dealin with cod2 the game the mods...then reinstall...i had the same problem....somehow the game just get overloaded...can't explain puter dummy...but did that and now everything is cool...if it doesn't work..then yes it's a virus..puter is fried....best i can give ya ma...

Perhaps a good idea to save allt he maps on an extrenal disk, so you don't need to download for hours to get all back. I don't think the problem will be in the map files so save yourself the trouble of downloading them all over again.

Thanks folks for all of your help. I got the problem solved. After 2 re-installs (the first time I forgot to delete the Activision folder):5duh: . I started 'er up and guess what!!! Same problem. I started thinking... what was it that happens when I zoom my scope and get killed... hmmm... SOUNDS! So I checked my sound card... lo and behold something bad had happened to the driver (I am blaming my daughter's Disney Princess games!) Anyway, I uninstalled and reinstalled that (which took 5 minutes) versus the 6 hours for the 2 reinstalls and map downloads... and wow! It's working!
Anyway, thanks again everyone for your aid, I appreciate it much.

Disney games are famous for that sort of behaviour. They install their own sound drivers sometimes, especially if they use MIC input, I had the same issue with ELMO PHONE once.

Although the SHEEP Drivers can cause the same problem.:3some:
