Has anyone gotten COD2 to run correctly in Vista?
I have the latest Catalyst drivers for my ATI Radeon X1600 but I get a large black band across the middle of the screen whenevwer I load a map.
Thanks,

Thanks Fester, I did find ATI has newer drivers released on the 30th. got those as well as x-fi beta drivers cause Vista doesn't support D3D hardware anymore.
Now it is running like a champ. Made some other tweaks as well in Security center and User managerment...
Will post them later, As I have an 8AM Vista Launch seminar today

Actually i have everything running except for my damn COD2...lol...and my logitech headphone...strange thing with them is that they are USB and everything else I have USB works.
Ivan hurry up and post how you got COD2 running...when i try and connect i go to a black screen and COD2 locks up with a not responding message.

I set the shortcut properties to run as Administrator and set compatibility mode to Windows Server 2003 (SP1), I loaded the newest ATI Catalyst drivers and used Catalyst control center to auto adjust overclocking.
I went into Control Panel>User Accounts and turned user account control off, and then went into Security Center and changed the way Security Center notifies me to "show icon only" to get rid of the annoying messages.
And Lastly since I have a Creative Labs X-fi platnium card I D/L'd the Creative Alchemy drivers (beta) to enable EAX3 sound...
Also I am only using Vista 32Bit even though I have a Dual Core Athlon64.
I haven't 64bit Vista yet, I let you know when I do and how it works...
I do actually get slightly better performance than in XP, about 30-40 FPS better framerate.
Good luck hope this helps.

Lisa,
What happens when you try to run COD2?
Or am I missing the humor? You don't have Vista so it doesn't help?

At over £200 I doubt it's worth the 'upgrade' :icon_confused:
I'll stick with that joke... i mean XP for now thanks :D

You and many others as well. The popupal wisdom is to wait for the first Service PAck Vista SP1.
Vista has some compelling reasons to upgrade. It DOES Boot/Shutdown faster and is more SECURE and STABLE than XP.
It does take more horsepower to run though and a lot or current rigs won't be compatible, Vendors haven't got a lot of Vista ready drivers yet.

Well i managed to get COD2 running on Vista and it runs real good...it is slow to start though and when you go to exit out of the game I get a black screen and have to ctl-alt-del to get out. Vista is a real nice operating system though...just going to take a little time to get the bugs worked out.

I am looking ot get vista ultimate myself..as this would make sense given my business apps.
As I understand it Vista also allows you to utilize all of your ram..Ie if you have 4 slots for ram and you put in 2gig chips then you'd have 8Gigs of Usable ram, whereas XP Pro only utilized 3.25 Gig..
is this correect?? becuase it should halp when dealing with a ram whore such as Photshop CS.

The Ol'digger just got XP to work.......no way I am jumping ship til I am sure the new upgrade is worth it.
I suppose it depends on what you are using your computer for.
I for one will wait and see.

Well if the RAM thing is true... I guess I'll have to find a way to take the plunge. I am sick of waiting for CS2 to render things.
