Hi guys,
I've been playing COD since the first version and love the game, I've also been playing in your servers for quite a while. I play in the sniper server and the HC server.
I've noticed a few things lately in the HC server and wanted to get some clarification.
Normally, when I play in a HC server it's about teamwork and skill and that's the reason I like to play HC. Usually, that's the case on your server, I don't know if it's the players recently or the maps but it's been hard for me to hang out in the server very long.
The spawn raping on a few maps is nuts... I've gone into a map and been killed as many as 15 times before even getting out of the spawn. Not fun.
The 203'ing is insane as well.. there are a few players that use nothing but the 203 and that takes no skill. In fact, this is the first HC server I've seen that allows 203, marty, wall spamming, and nade spamming. (I'm not saying it's ToB members, it's other players)
Since I haven't been here since the beginning, what do you guys think should go on in the HardCore server?
Should it be TDM anything goes? like the regular servers... or should the server be about skill and teamwork?
The reason I ask is, the last few weeks, I go in the server and there are 20-25 people playing then a spawn rape map comes up or a map where one team has everyone 203'ing and then the server goes to 5-6 people in a flash, in other words... everyone leaves.
thanks for reading.

it started out as a true HC server, very little of the above mentioned.
That was back when it was all stock maps and a few of the original cutom maps. Those maps were set up pretty good to deter people from spawn issues and eliminated a few other factors, making the game play smoother.
That was also back when we had a regular TDM server. I think most of the noobs and annoying people played that server most of the time.
Now though, we only have HC server, and the maps aren't as top of the line as they used to be, so It really is a mix of things making the play how you mention.
But, that's how it is and it's gonna be hard to change other people's playing style. Best thing to do is to adapt to it and move on.

I love hardcore and that's the only game I play.
Some maps just have a bad spawn points or one sided. If your teammates camping at the spawn, all team gets trapped. Classic example is Junkyard. It is very frustrating but what do you expect from opposition wait until all of you come out of the spawn?
As far as tubes and morty, it's just an annoyance, we don't tell people how and with what to play. I would bite you to death if thats what it takes to get a kill. I only wish that we could get rid of aimboting chopper...

Yep, I've been on the team that is doing the spawn raping and I usually back off and definitely don't throw nades or 203 the spawn but that's just me.
Some players just play to get a huge score, I do that in the sniper server, it's about being an individual.
I really like team play and know how fun it is to be in teamspeak and working together to own a team.
I know what you mean about getting a kill, I do what I can as well but.. I stop short at spawn raping and especially camping at a spawn point and nailing dudes as they spawn. That's just poor gaming to me.
PS.. the chopper stinks and should be booted for botting. LOL :p

I understand how you feel, when the other team is just using noob tubes there is little you can do but noob tube back. however in most cases it is not the other teams fault for spawn camping, i find that the team who spawns just stands in the spawns and shoots, this blocks other players and ruins the game, so what are the other team ment to do if people dont come out the spawns? lol
we must report the chopper !! lol

i agree some people no longer use the noob tube for purely tactical reasons... and there is hardly even any teamwork involved in HC... and anytime there is people complain about being raped and stacked teams... for example... when all of us (ToB and regs) join one team and are in TS, tactically moving etc. the score will often be double the other teams... simply cause of teamwork... our HC server is very basic HC... ive seen some where you can only run when being fired at, can only nade buildings with known enemies... etc. etc... i would not mind seeing it become more of a tactical server, but then fewer people will show up simply cause the majority of current players, play just to get high scores and self gratify themselves.. ha...

Good point but... after being killed 10 times in a row.. what is are the spawn raped supposed to do, it's a double edged sword. Try to get out, die 15 times, stop and shoot and get a kill or two.
Noob tubes, I ended up getting one yesterday and firing back at tubers...it was short lived satisfaction.. LOL
Thor, I don't mind being owned by a good team, it's the spawn camping that drives me crazy. I can hone my skills watching a good team work together, that's what it's all about. :)

I have to admit that there seems to be a lot more use of the 203 of late, but mainly on certain maps. It isn't exactly exciting to spawn in a continual kill zone, but, once you get out of it, and turn the tables, the revenge kills, as cheap as they felt before, feel awesome.
Gotta say Flemish Town is a pretty rough map if you spawn on the wrong side. Would be nice if there were some underground tunnels, or alternative means of getting behind the lines, as with most of the maps. Makes for more tactical game play.
Good thread, but in the end, the players will do as they wish, and you're out of luck if they chose to use a 203 on a spawn kill map... at least until you outflank them.
Stay Frosty!

Teamwork? whats that?
Like Thor mentioned, even when just a few are on TS together and play together like a team, you just stomp the crap out of the other players, then they complain, seen it happen a few times. Hard Core increases weapon damage and loses the HUD, makes it a lot easier for you to snipe people without them being able to find you, but of course then the camping complaints fly.
The spawn camping/raping comes and goes with the custom maps and really bad on W@W, if someone has to rely on camping a spawn to get kills, that's just poor sportsmanship.
What would be nice for the next COD is that you only rank up on the number of positive kills not the total number of kills, what's the big deal if you get 70 kills with 65 deaths?

In COD one team will push the other into their spawn. In a perfect world the teams will be equally skilled and this will not happen. However, as a safeguard maps are designed to shift spawns once the enemy has overrun your position.
Unfortunately, most of the custom maps have been designed with size and ranged fighting in mind. The spawn shift system does not compensate for the map size in most of these cases.
Adding to the problem, a lot of these maps have poorly planned spawns points sometimes grouping players into tight grids (vulnerable to airstrikes, explosive, and campers). The camper does not need to cover multiple fields of fire to pin down a whole spawn. 'City Assault' is a good example of this.
It's unnatural to expect players to try their best to beat the other team and then back off once they've located the enemy spawn. You can only hope your own team is competent enough to get out of those situations and most of the time they are.
As for Marty and nade spam I am usually able to avoid this if I'm careful enough. The 203 is a great weapon but the way some noobs use it really irritates me as well. I don't see the point in firing a 203 (at me a single target) from 15 feet away when the other player could have just as easily shot me.
That's my rant.

Good points Crash and Shooter! I agree with everything you guys are saying.
I played the HC server quite a bit yesterday and unfortunately ended up on the receiving end of spawn raping and severe 203 wars a few times. It's very frustrating.
I thought about it for a long time and seriously tried my best to sneak out of the spawns and I would always get by the first wave but there was always a second wave of combatants waiting there for me. LOL
I was on 2 maps and pinned down and got killed 15 times, yes 15 times in a row (on one of the maps) and not once by bullet fire.. 203, nades, chopper, airstrike... and the server went from 24 people down to 10 in a matter of minutes.
I'm not complaining just seriously trying to think of a good solution for everyone, although I'm stumped and thinking it's best to just leave and come back when the map is over. I just hate seeing a great server go empty because of something like this.
