A lot of time when it takes along time to connect it is the activision server that is slow in responding...it has to authenticate you before you can connect.

It happened again.....the whole text just disappears occasionally when I'm typing a reply.....
And only here :(
<finishes grumbling>
Anyway....a few thoughts...
Have you run a spyware scan recently?
I would suggest running both AdAware and Spybot.....make sure you update them before running
Is your anti-virus up to date? What anti-virus are you running?
Are you running a firewall?
If so, which one?
Clean out your temp folder...under XP it is:
C:\Documents and Settings\<your system username here>\Local Settings\Temp
...but you may have to enable hidden files to see it.
AFTER you update and run the spyware scans, and AFTER you update your ant-ivirus and AFTER you clean out your temporary file folder, disable your software firewall and see if you can connect.
Also, are you using an external WAN device? Do you have a cable modem, or an external DSL modem? If so, try powering off those devices (include any network switch or router) for 30 seconds, then reconnect and reboot.
Are you selecting the TOB server from the master server list?
Can you connect directly to it?

No i havent run one i will do that.
I dont have a virus program,i dont have a need for one.
Firewall is off,Windows firewall
Cable Modem , and LAN router.
No i made a shortcut with the correct ip and i used /connect in Console (~)
Ill See if that spyware thing works.
Edit:No The spyware didnt work. But omfg that was alot of it (55)

While you're trying that, you're aware that the sniper IP has changed to:
64.27.1.144
Just a thought!
You know your usage of the machine, but I would suggest to run The free online Kaspersky anti-virus (http://usa.kaspersky.com/services/free-virus-scanner.php) just for giggles.
I always run anti-virus, but I also have a fairly uncontrolled environment (all of my machines open to family and friends).

What do you mean by 'I dont have a virus program,i dont have a need for one.
Firewall is off,Windows firewall'
I find this worrying to be honest.

Okay.....I missed that you edited your posting....sorry, but you should have made a new post with the updated information.
Are you aware that spyware can introduce virii, trojans, and rootkits into your system?
Heck, just inserting a music CD or a DVD on your system can install rootkits that will let virii, trojans, and spyware onto your system AND YOU'D NEVER KNOW IT without specifically looking for them.
Yes, I'm also worried that you had (unknown) spyware on your machine.
I know I sit behind a hardware firewall (my wireless router is an excellent firewall), but I stil run ZoneAlarm so I can be notified of the things that try to "phone home", or are trying to establish an internet connection that I'm not aware of.
For example, if I start a game of solitare, I want to know if program "XYZ" simultaneously takes the opportunity and tries to open an internet connection.
Take the opportunity and also run the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool (available on Microsoft's website).
Along the same lines, Microsoft Defender (their active spyware tool, as opposed to AdAware and SpyBot which are passive tools) is a very good spyware tool, it's free, and it runs in the system tray.
Oh, and did you try the suggestion towards the last half of my original post regarding rebooting the network equipment?
Something else to try (if it works) is to bypass the internal network by connecting the pc straight to the cable modem and see if that makes a difference.
Please realize that I don't know your background - if you are an experienced IT professional, then please excuse my concerns.

Well i apoligize for this error i have made i have a firewall in my LAN Router u jogged my memory so that is why i dont have one on my comp enabled.Plus i run the Norton Free scan on my comp every now and again. No i am no IT expert even though i would luv to be concidering today's world is all about computers.Any way the spyware thing worked and i got some spyware but it was all in my cookies everywhere else was clean and i deleted all of it.(or did wat spybot does).
Edit:Yourself i am aware of the IP change and yes i have tryed that.
Im gonna run the virus scan.
I am 100% positive it isnt my router or modem connection because i can go on other servers just fine (Most of the time) and i have gone on others in the past,Mabye those mods corrupted something in my game so its harder to connect?

Okay...as you try that (and you just mentioned that you mostly get on other sites well) - try deleting (actually, moving) the xx.iwp files (xx = 1 through 66), which are the .iwp files in the Activition\Call of Duty 2\Main folder related to the maps we are running, and allow them to re-download.
See if that works.

No, I'm just working from home today, and I get e-mailed when a post is added (to a topic I've posted to)....so I just read the e-mail when it pops up and click the link.
That leads to my replies....
Sometimes it's more than a week before I can reply on the forums......you've been "lucky".

Great.
But I would be wary of the symantec (isn't that Norton's AntiVirus?) scanner.
Of the AV packages, Norton and McAfee rate among the lowest in detection rates.
Try running that Kasperisky one I linked to overnight, if you can.
It will probably also show nothing, but better to be safe.
I've removed all traces of Norton and McAfee years ago, and most of the people I work with have also.
There are several free ones that are much better.
You haven't lived until you catch a virus from a professionally-stamped application (open the box, insert it, and it infects your system). Quality control in the mastering process still leaves a little to be desired.

If you're talking about reinstalling CoD2, that may not work without moving or deleting the mods (existing .iwd files).
If you do reinstall CoD2, I would suggest uninstalling it, renaming the "c:\program files\activision\Call of Duty 2" folder - maybe append "-bad" or "-old" to it.
Then, reinstall in the default location.
