Daily delete and install

All,

Due to my current dramas with pb I have to delete and re-install the pb both Pnkbstr A and Pnkbstr B every day.

So if you see Rin or I enter a game and suddenly disappear due to our heartbeat stopping, I have forgotten to do it.

Anyone with a fix............your assistance would be greatly appreciated this is beyond a joke!

And no other programs are running, the pb test indicates everything is OK, it is on auto update and works fine after I re-install it every 24hrs.

And no I do not have firewall or virus protection enabled when in game......

Hey guys

If you don't have a firewall, your problem could be related to your router.
It could be blocking ports you need to play the game properly.
Here (http://www.portforward.com/) you'll find more info to open the correct ports.

If your problem persists, and no one has an answer... send punkbuster a ticket (http://box22.evenbalance.com/troubleticket/new_ticket.php) stating your problem. they're pretty good about straightening things out.

Lee... as for your problem. You are getting the "Disallowed program/driver" error... right?

If you have FRAPS or any overlay program similar to FRAPS (xfire sometimes causes the problem)... close it when in game.

Punkbuster is reading programs like that as hack tools for some reason.

I agree with mixmaster, FRAPS caused heartburn for me with PB also, just close it before starting the game see if it fixes the issue

Pb has over the last few weeks been giving me a similar problem, I have done the same as you uninstall re-install and the problem was still there. I did the same yesterday so I did a system restore to a time when it was ok and it worked......(that was yesterday).............. I will find out in a few mins if its still ok! (please, please please be ok)

Well those good people at Punk Buster are real helpful.....

After about 8 messages back and forth and sending them dxdiag notes and pb test notes etc.............

Thier answer;

Delete pb, reboot machine and reinstall before I play............everyday!

hence my abscence from the game of late.....I am sick and tired of doing it.

Brett, what if you save your profiles and reinstall games and PB at the same time? Maybe you got some kind of bug there

Note #9: Please close ALL running programs on your computer and then join a Punkbuster enabled server to see if you still get kicked. If you're not kicked at this point, it means that one of the previously closed programs is causing the kick. Therefore we need to find out which program that is. This can be accomplished by starting each (previously closed) program one by one. If the kick returns we now know which program is causing it.

It is recommended to close the game first before starting individual programs. To save time you can also start several programs at once (say 2 or 3 programs) to speed up the search.

ok... pretty much, what they're saying is that some programs don't run well with the game. Take FRAPS for example. The game will kick you sometimes if you run FRAPS in the background while playing, because FRAPS taps into your game and uses certian stats... pb has trouble telling the difference between stuff like that and actual hacks.


SO... if you have any programs open while in game, close them... if this IS the problem, then the game'll work fine once all programs are closed.

ok, then it most likely isn't what they think it is. let them know that, and see what their response is.

you´ve updated punkbuster with the recent version of pbsetup.exe ?

If so - please download PBSVC.EXE from here

this small proggy will test , if your services are running properly.

Please check also manually, if the pb-services are running.
Here a small tutorial how to do it:

right click on my computer (German=Arbeitsplatz)
click manage
doubleclick services and applications
go to services and check in the list, if pnkbstrA and/or pnkbstrB-services are running. check also , that both services are running automatically - If not set them on automatically and restart the services.
