The WAW server at times is about as much fun as having a tooth out!!!
Because of the excessive use of tubes, there are players who spawn and immediately fire off 2 tubes in the direction of spawns, die the do the same thing over and over, the game get totally spoiled and people do actually leave because of this!
Could we either have the tubes removed or have their power reduced to make them in effectual (excuse spelling) OR have a message put on the server like some servers do "Tubes not allowed."

Now I am ducking so throw as much as you like!!!!!:)

I just played for the first time in years W@W and yes I was killed 2-1, if i got 10 I was killed 20 times and mostly in spawn areas....I never cried about it just played through.

its all part of the game and if we restrict tubes then whats next sniper rifles ....thompsons?

Tubes may be part of the game but they are abused, people like Colin and I get frustrated by it and don't want to play on servers that let skill-less punks abuse tubes just to get kills. Maybe that is why your servers get emptied out?
Tubes have a lot larger kill area than any of the guns in the game, even the Thompson you have to be somewhat accurate to hit the person, not just get it in the general area like a tube.

Flak Jacket makes the world a better place :)

on ALL of my classes, I have flak jacket, and it TOTALLY sovles the problem of tubes (and betties for that matter). It actually makes the game easier.

When someone shoots a tube at you, you 1) know that someone is shooting at you, 2) know WHERE they're shooting at you, and 3) you can kill them before they have a chance to reload the 2nd for the kill shot.

I actually prefer tubers because they're EASY kills (with flak jacket of course).

I agree with Sniper........once you start restricting.....people will leave. I know I have on other servers because I thought the rules were stupid. Freedom of choice for me. I get killed a lot with tubes....but you just have to bite the bullet and keep going...it`s only a game.......Until UrOwnBAdLuck shows up then it`s your butt all over.LOLOL sorry Sean.I had to dig it in. There are maps made for them and I wouldnt want to have them eliminated. What annoys me is some players who never use anything else except for them, Wicio for example never uses anything else. I vary, I have different loadouts for different maps. The other thing is I dont wait at top of stairs, or in a corner for some poor soul to go by so I can splatter him. Hiding with a tube is just lame. Those who know me know that I'm all attack, unfortunately what often happens with my style of game is I'll be attacking a player and someone will spawn next to them and get caught in the fire.

Anyways..it's all cyclacle.. the more people use juggernaught then the more tubes come out and then to counter the tubes people switch to flak jackets and then to counter the flak jackets when the tubes don't work anymore, people switch to juggernaught... and so on and so on

Well, I'm all for freedom of choice.

And believe me, I am the recipient of tube kills regularly....

I think it's because of the ping, running don't work. Even being half way across the map doesn't always work with the kill range.

So, occassionally I drag one out too, my biggest bitch is I can't fit one to my BAR.

I use the BAR because I have found I can snipe with it and use it as a MG.

I get slaughtered trying to use a garand these days, as it doesn't fire quick enough with the ping issues.

I know the tubes can get a bit much, I just go to spectate til the map changes if I get real cranky at constant tube kills.

Most of the time I just ignore it and play on......

And I have been playing on the server since WAW came out, that is not the point. the point is, there are atleast 6 players who use nothing else most of which always finish at the top of the scoreboard (which I do not care about) and the reason that they use them, which you will find out is if YOU fire at them just before they fire at YOU, YOU will die even though you fired first, the projectile still kills the opposing player even after they are dead!
ALL I am asking is that the power is reduced which is not alot! and would make the game less of a "TUBE FEST" as it gets known.
As soon as some players join, and its always the same players (2 of which have PL in their player names) they start and then others join and the game deteriorates.

My final comment on the subject of excessive use of tubes is,
There have on many many occasions been posts on the subject of excessive constant tubing and the replys have always been the same, if you ban tubes then next it will be blah blah blah" to my knowledge no-one has EVER asked for anything to be changed EXCEPT TUBES! and I dont think anyone will ask or has any reason to ask for anything else to be changed!
(thought about typing another comment but knew what replies to expect so will stay schtum)
I AM NOT ASKING TO BAN THEM JUST REDUCE THE DAMAGE so that they are NOT used as a first weapon :5bomb: and give regular players a chance to enjoy the server! :)

Colin no one ever asked you to leave! like it or not. I get fed up with them also as some uses them as their only weapon. Not sure if the Mod we're running will let you cut them out, I would think so since we have no tanks. As far as adjusting the power of the weapon, it may be possible.

The cure for Flak Jacket is a dose of the ol'Double betty, plant them about two feet apart and they will serperate the "Jacket" from the wearer, lol.

I never use tubes. I am just on the receiving end of them. LOL Do I prefer tubes on the server? No, but it's the ToB rules and I play anyway because I prefer ToB and its peeps over all the others out there.

Somedays there are two many tubers out there and I wish they were banned, yes. On those days I leave and go over to the Polite-And-Friendly tactical server for a spell. I play there until I get real bored (it's too slow and quiet over there, like playing in a library or something - LOL) and then come back to the fun at ToB, tubes and all. :D

I also absolutly dont like and use tubes but i never cried because of them, u have to kill the tuber earlier ;)

Tubing is the reason i deleted and stopped playing the game.
I have just re-installed the game including all the patches, because there are less and less players on cod4 and Digger reckons everyone is playing WAW.

Well how about this as a possible solution.....

We currently run two W@W servers.

(I note I have never seen anyone on the Mod Weaps version......which is a shame in itself)

However, why don't we run one with and one without tubes and just see whether the masses want it?

That is if we can turn the mongrel things off in the first place.

Personally I wouldn't give a toss if tubes were banned, but then whats next, my beloved betty's......don't even go there!

Ah yes, the name did start with an "O", thank you for jogging my memory Dman! What's funny is it isn't every map they use them. I guess you have some hardcore tube nuker’s out there that solely rely on them though. It is kind of like running around with a bazooka shooting at people, silly when you think about it. Last night was pretty pathetic though, there had to be at least 3 to 4 using them religiously not counting the ones on my team, which wasn't really fun in my opinion.

There is NO "next"! It is OBVIOUS by this thread that the VAST majority of players are fed up with the tubes. To me, I think that's worth looking at. Why should the MAJORITY of us suffer from the minorities' wants?

The ONLY person in this thread who has put up a fight for tubes has been Sean, and (sorry Sean), but you are SERIOUSLY outnumbered. Most of the people who abuse the use of the tube aren't even registered on this website. Why should the people who have taken the time to register and stop in here to voice their opinion get overruled by those that don't even show enough interest in our server/home to swing by the website?


Again, there is no "next"... The ONLY thing I've truly heard complaints about in ANY game have been tubes. Just get rid of the damn things.

I don't say much in game and I have used tubes in game, But my use of tubes is in response to someone else using them 90 percent of the time, I wouldn't mind seeing them go,

and off subject, Maybe if you had like a 2 or 3 sec re spawn time this would help with spawn camping, re spawning on your own grenade and other spawn issues.

In a fasted paced game you don't have time to wait for people to re spawn.

If your talking about loosing the grnade laucher in W@W I am supportive but not COD4. I think David may look at this now and decide one way or another...either way we may want to GANG up on TUBE users and KILL them allot!

I think there are a few players in W@W that really abuse them. Meaning its there only method of killing and even when there are only 4 of you playing 2v2 they used them.

So now tubes have been tweaked down. Also without any discussion the enemy tags have been tweaked, you need to be right on the enemy to see tags now. I don't like juggernauts, can we tweak those down??

As for enemy tags... I don't think they were ever really MEANT to be seen. It isn't really fair when your crawling along in game and someone sees you because you name flashed across their screen. Now they'll actually have to LOOK for you!

And for juggernaught, even though I agree that this is the lamest perk out there, it's still part of the game. We have never, and probably will never completely remove any component or perk from our server. If the game came with it, we'll let it be playable. Tweaking juggernaught down is kind of redundant... Why would anyone use it if we weaken it. The whole point of juggernaught is to make someone more powerful.

You don't get it Mike - It's not about banning people - warn them to ease up on the tubes - if they continue then temp them - if after the temp they continue then deal with them. That's the usual way of dealing with problems on the server.

Are we going to custom the server settings every time a member doesn't like something? If yes then I want my say also - maybe other members have things they dont like also, do they get their say?

I rarely say much on matters such as this. But come on its just a game use whatever u want to I can careless if u kill me by tube,knife,hanky..whatever the main purpose is to have fun. But if u keep teaking perks pretty soon someone gonna be unhappy about a different perk. Now u gotta tweak that. I say leave it alone and let the game stay the way it is. I`ve been reading the posts here and I realized that everybody has good arguments for their point of view on the matter. Quite frankly as a TOB guest, I don`t mind getting my butt kicked by tube.......I seem to remember in cod2 that there was a setting that allowed only a certain amount of firearms of a kind on each team..I don`t know if WAW has that setting or if it was a mod.

Even though I`m not a TOB member, I am usually on the server every night for the past 2-3years. I enjoy coming home after a long day and just having at it for a while.......whatever you decide, I`m good with......but I like Sean`s idea of leaving it all alone......and biting the bullet when needed.you have no idea how much I`ve bitten my tongue whilst in game.
Can you :5bomb::5bomb::5bomb::5bomb:maybe try it 1 month one way and one month another way...seems like a compromise to me..
