I am told that some people are getting the impure iwd error message when connecting to our server. This is because you have picked up a file from another server that conflicts with some of ours. This is no big deal just really annoying. You can easily correct this by following the post at the below link. It is talking about a black screen in that post but it works the sameway for all COD2 errors. Just go delete ever what file is referenced in the bottom of the full console when you bring it down when you get the error. And then reconnect. And yes you have to disconnect after you find out what files is causing the problem before you try and delete it.

When you try to connect to server and you get the impure error notice, write down the file, disconnect, go to WINDOWS search and type in the file name for instance: lmap46.iwd. When that file is found, delete it, and reconnect.

SPECIFICALLY .... follow this ----> C drive, Program Files, Activision, COD2, Main ............ all your iwd files are in the folder titled "Main".
The only deviation to this should be the Letter for your main HD.
And as a precaution, I always cut the iwd file in questin and paste it onto my desktop until I see that I am in fact able to get back into the server.
I can then delete it at a later time. But if you delete something that it turns out is needed, you may have to do a clean reinstall. Which is a pain ...........

David,
Haven't had any problems until today. After getting a download on map Vieux Village I received iwd errors. Seems there were two of them 36 and 80 that were causing probs. Took them out of folder and all went back to working....Art

You could just rename the extension on the file like if the file name is 80.iwd you could remain the extension to 80.old so you do not have to del the file till you see if you got the right one to fix error.
Hey thanks so much! I deleted the files and I am back on.

If i have it right the .iwd files are one you download when you join a server ie map and mod files
so deleting them is not a problem as you can always reload them when you rejoin that server
and there in lies the problem
my son also plays the same game on diff servers and then i get the iwd errors every time i download new maps on our server
the other night i had to delete 6 seperate iwd files one at a time just to get on the server.
David my son plays lots of diff servers and this never happens why does it only happen when you join our server is it the hitlock mod that is clashing with other mods or is it map files clashing with same map files on our server.
just my 2 cents worth sorry for the rambling

Hey Malc,
in the past it has happened to me on other servers too.... although recently while others have the issue - i haven't had it.
Unknown to me what makes it happen.
you are right about the .iwd - they are the maps you download upon connecting to a server.

That is why I am wanting someone to send me the file and give me the exact wording of the error. The two .iwd that I have seen people reference are not even loaded on the server right now.

OK, as I said earlier, I save the iwd's I remove b/c of errors. The last error I got was related to the 36 iwd, which I placed back in my main folder and then connected to the server. I got in without any problems. $ days ago this was not the case and I had to remove the 36iwd file to get in.
Sorry, I cannnot tell you the exact message b/c I dont get it now.
If you removed the 36 iwd from the server, this would explain it. If you did not do that, then I am clueless ........ hmm ........... I guess I am clueless regardless :)
(and I still want someone to smack Huggy with a fish)
PPS I am driving to NC starting ...................... now :)

Now I am confused :icon_confused: I cleared all of the .iwd map files out of my main folder, downloaded new ones when i connected and evrything worked. I have just swapped them over, to try to replicate the error for David and guess what? I can't!!! I loaded metalhertz farms with no problem :icon_confused:
If it happens again, I'll grab a screenshot :icon_wink:

Sometimes you do not get a complete download of the file...if it is not exactly like what is on the server this will happen.

Moosman. If you delete a file that you need, it's not lost; goes right to recycle bin. You can retrive it. I know from experience. You just back to the recycle bin and undo the delete. As far as going to the MAIN folder in Activision, it really is easier to just write down the file that is giving an error and do the SEARCH and delete. Hugs:3some:

The only error I'm getting is "server is for low ping players only. I'm usually in the 50 range for pings.
I have not gotten any impure clients .iwd error messages but still cannot get on. Screen will say after 2 or 3 attempts of low ping, that server is loading map, and puter just freezes and I need to restart.
Any suggestions...Remember, Im a medical guy not a computer guy, so be gentle.
THanks
Roger

If you are getting that message your ping is at 999 when you are trying to connect to the server. Either your ISP is having issues or perhaps something is blocking or slowing down your connection, or you may have alot of stuff in the back ground running that is using your bandwidth.
