So my problem is that the screen stops at a certian point but the rest of the computer keeps working. But as the screen doesn't receive input anymore I have to reset. The problem is caused by the graphics card was told me by my computer seller. The card says it is running way to warm while it is actually below the normal temperature this kind of card runs at. Nvidia did bring the card out while there was still a problem on the software and they will bring out a driver which solves this (explained to me in May, still waiting for that update, have downloaded every new driver since and no solution). Does anyone know anything about this because the freezes are getting really on my nerves. For the amount I paid for card and computer it should work smoothly. Do I need to ask to replace the card, dowload some software please advise.
Thanks in advance for the help.
If they are aware that the card wouldn't work properly when you first bought it take it back and get them to replace with one that works.

Check for driver updates. They come out regularly with updates that correct alot of things like that.

Was reading up on the 8800's and noticed it was recomended you have a 450 watt power supply for the gtx and a 400 watt for the gts. This would be something to check.

I have a power supply of 700 Watt which should be more then enough. It is on the testing machine at my computerseller as we speak. He is going to check everything and will be replacing untill he finds the problem. Will post the reason of my problems on Friday as he says he should have found it by then. Hope to be able to shoot some heads again very soon without the continuous frustration when the system blocks (kept me out of the regular game for a few months now, have a lot of stress to release ;-)) Hope to be up and running again by next week.

hmm - makes me wonder what i got for my power supply - maybe I need a beefier one.
I noticed that the fan on the card doesn't spin too fast... maybe not enough power....
Hope they find the problem M8 - keep us posted

You mentioned that the shop has your machine...
But, something else to try......download and run DriverCleaner (the free version) to uninstall your existing video card drivers, then install the newest.
Follow the directions from DriverCleaner. I searched for a link, but it looks like they're charging $10 for the newest version.
Your shop should already have it, though.

Hello everyone,
Quick update their was a fault in my card, it caused the computer to stop every time. At Asus they were aware of the problem after they got contacted, my computerseller told me. So they are taking it back, now I have the option to take the same card without issues or replace it. Have decided to go for the 640 mb version of the same card, since this one does not give any problems as far as my computerseller is aware of. Hope to receive my pc back by one of the following days and to be back to gaming in no time. Hope to leave the frustration of failing hardware after me Iwant to start shooting people again, like I always did (or tried).
Cheers,
Jens

I Have the 640 and it is a killer... only problem is that the rendering is so good sometimes it is very difficult ot make out snipers in bushes.. outdoor maps will be your nemisis :) (You could go back to directx7 but what fun would that be).... You'll see what I mean :)
