Guys,

I have just run the test to see if my system will run CoD4 ......the answer luckily is yes.

The problem I have however is PING speed. (300+) and is there any easy way of checking my speed? (other than what is displayed when I am playing)

Also is there anyway I can improve this using things I have control over.

I am currently accessing the fastest broadband available in my location at a cost of nearly $100 a month.

Bottom line with 300+ playing CoD4 on line will be pointless and just frustrating.

Thanks

Brett

When I try and ping you via command line I get all packets lost also, no ping at all. When I use NeoTrace to ping you I get a ping averaging 250 until it gets to the last hop and it times out. I do not know of anything that will change your high ping other than distance. It is all about the time it take for packets to travel from the server to you or from you to the server.

contact your ISP and see what they say about this because somewhere packets are being lost. As festypants said it may be your distance but it might be worth a check.

My Result:

just a thought...

ensure you do not have any spyware and/or things running using your internet connection in addition to what you are doing.

spware can be the harmful stuff running in the background - but also installed apps that put the icon in the systray - like yahoo, aol, antivirus (doing downloads), weather icon...etc

I do not have anything running in the background...that I can discern in any event.
I figure it is just one of those things unfortunately.......distance.

Thanks for the help.

Cheers
