Has anyone had problems with some of the maps kicking them over to the blue screen of death?
When we get to the rotation for Karkland, I get kicked over to the big blue and have to reboot the computer.
I have tried deleting the Karkland .iwd file and reloading it but that doesn't seem to make a difference.
Any ideas?

I haven't had any problems, are you OC'ing your memory, CPU, or GPU that can cause that kind of problem.

No, I'm not OCing. Did with my old machine, but not with this one.

the guy that fixed my pc said the blue screen had nothing to do with the game but more of a hardware to software issue. like mine was overheating, he put new grease on the heatsink and fixed it.

I actually thought about the heat issue (I play on a laptop, desktop replacement machine) but that wouldn't explain why only on certain maps. I can play all day until Karkland or El_Castilo come up.
I'll see if there is anythign I can do about the heat issue with laptop.

yes it would, depending on how the map is compiled at the time its made. it may have to be rendered completely all the time insted of just the part your player can see. like when your framerate goes up when you have your scope up.

Good point, I hadn't thought about rendering issues.

I'm not clear.....does it only boot you when going into the map, or after you've started playing the map?
Try creating a temp directory alongside the C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 2 directory, and move your .IWD
files out of the main folder (and any other folders you have under the COD2 subdirectories).
Then, reconnect and redownload the maps - see if that helps.
I don't know offhand which are the default (original with game) .IWD files.....can someone familiar with them post?

The game loads up to the point where you choose teams, when I choose a team or hit auto assign, BAM blue screen. I don't see anything of the actual game.
The other night after seeing that one of the 'bad' maps was loading; I went to single player mode and had the same problem on the British section in on the tank charge.
I again have tried uninstalling and then reinstalling. My only guess is that there is some kind of conflict between CoD2 and one of the drivers. I say this because I use to be able to play the entire thing before my machine crashed a few weeks ago.
I am so sad, :(

Hey Joe (what a great song!)
You stated that you uninstalled and reinstalled the game.......
Did you delete the directory after you uninstalled, but before you reinstalled?
If not, do that again......uninstall.....RENAME the directory (the COD2 directory under c:\program files\activision), then try reinstalling.
After that, patch up to 1.3, and manually update punkbuster
http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=dl-cod2.php
When you're finished with that, BEFORE you go online, make a backup of your directory (just a .zip or compressed file should be okay), then go ahead and try connecting.
That way, if you have problems, you still have a "virgin, patched" folder you can restore (hopefully, saving the uninstalling/reinstalling steps again).
You might also want to try creating your online profiles and setting them up (graphic settings, etc.) and make another backup.
Give that a try and see if it works.
When you install the game, it only uninstalls original game files - generally, all of your downloaded files are left behind, and are there for the reinstallation to "magically" find and use.
