Any of you colege football fans have any opinions on the BCS standings? I'm still kind of torn as to whether or not I agree with them...

I agree with you, Corey... Michigan should have stayed at #2... even after the Bowl! The game against Ohio State was too close for them to lose out like that.

I hate the BS....uh, I mean BCS. UM got robbed!! Their only loss was to the #1 team in the country, on the road, and by 3 points! How can anyone possibly say that they aren't number 2?!?!?!
Some reports say that they didn't want to see a rematch of UM/OSU....they say rematches suck and aren't as good as the originals. Oh really? How did Ali vs Frasier II (or III for that matter) turn out.
Bunch of idiots. I hope Florida gets killed in that game!
I don't understand what's so difficult about a playoff system (D-II does it)? Why do university presidents say it's not profitable? How could it not be profitable to play 2, 3 or 4 more games a year when every TV station in American would pay millions to broadcast every one of them!
But hey, at least my Aggies got a decent bowl game! woo hoo!

well the playoffs would kill the whole bowl atmosphere where you show up a week before the game and spend $$$money$$$ in a playoff you showup game day and stay one day not six dont spend as much. its not the college prez. that dont want a playoff its the bowl folks.

BCS is better than what there was before. Bowls got to pick teams from conferences they had agreements with. Michigan would have ended up in a garbage bowl because of this. Check out http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=jones/061205&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab2pos1

You're probably right Switters, this system is better than the one before. In any of these systems, when you have so many teams in so many different conferences, it's going to be hard to accurately determine who's better than who, and there will always be a team that gets screwed. I'm just bitter because this year it was mine.
However, I DON'T want to see OSU crush Florida. I want OSU to lose, and then have Boise win their bowl game. That would make them the only undefeated team this year. Then it would really hit the fan trying to figure out who's #1.

Theco, that would be sweet if OSU lost and Boise St won. LOL It doesn't really matter though as the winner of OSU/Florida is the National Champion no matter what. Also, even if it does happen, I don't see the AP putting Boise St at #1.
All I have to say is: PLAYOFFS!!! It WOULD work!
Anyway, no more posts for me in the BCS thread....it makes me upset :)

Corey, I liked you... in spite of your obvious defects... How could you want a team from your own conference to LOSE? If Michigan were in the the BIG GAME, I would root for them over Florida.
Oh well, that's okay... I still like you :icon_wink:

As an Avid Ohio State fan, and as Woody would have said, not a fan of "that School Up North", I think that michigan (notice the small m) is without a doubt, the second best team in the country, BUT, they had their shot and got beat. Let someone else have a shot. We have a 5 week layoff for some teams prior to bowl games, why not a top 16 playoff ??????

Hehe, I'm not rooting against OSU because I don't like them, but I'd like the system to get shaken up a bit. I think if the only undefeated team in the country was ranked as poorly as Boise St. will be if that happens, the BCS system would get even more scrutiny, which it needs. I like the idea of a playoff system...say, the top two teams from each conference, with maybe a wildcard or two thrown in.
OldGuy, I'll agree that Michigan is the PROBABLY second best team. But as it stands, the BCS system is set up to where some people are going to get screwed (not necessarily Michigan, but will Boise St. have a chance to play OSU?). If we had a playoff system, all that could be avoided. I think it would have made a difference if Michigan and OSU had met at the end of a playoff series, on neutral ground. Remember, home field advantage is usually worth at least 3 points, which was what Michigan lost by.

It was an excellent game, but wasn't really as close as the score indicated. I think on a neutral field the outcome would be the same. What's really going to make the BCS look bad is when OSU wins by 3 or more touchdowns in THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME !!!!! And I STILL think Michigan should be #2.

Hell, I just saw today that USC is favored over Michigan...I don't know WHAT'S going on with the these "experts". You're right Oldguy, it will be a blow out in the title game. Such a waste of good college teams...the right matchups could give us weeks of great games.
