Make a desktop Short Cut? Not being Computer savvy and missing the game like mad, I would love to be able to get into our servers very quickly.

So can anyone give me a step by step instruction on how to make a desktop shortcut?

click on "FIle"...and then go to "send" and then click "shortcut to desktop"

Follow UncleFester post in the above link, make sure it is a shortcut for multi-player. You just have to add the: +connect 64.34.184.17:28940
That will take you to the Sniper 1 server, rename the desktop shortcut to Sniper 1, then repeat for any other server address, name accordingly.
The post may be for COD2 but still works for COD4.

Crash, I know the above, but do you know how/ where to add the password if you wanted to get into a password protected game this way?

This may be a stupid question, but do you have the servers(w/password if needed) saved under your favorites(in the game under source)?
